Competine Cemetery is in Knoxville Township Section 8 Township 75 Range 19. The entrance is in the 2200 block of Old Hwy. 92 (East Main Street). There is a cemetery sign on a gate on the north side of the highway. Park in the driveway, walk across the railroad, then walk 500 feet northwest down the trail. The parcel number is 1200100300.

 

Within the Knoxville city limits, this old cemetery was moved to this location from what is now East School in Knoxville. It then became neglected and much vandalized in the 1870s and following, with no stones left standing. It was restored by local citizens, and a booklet was written about the project, which is available in the Genealogy Room of the Knoxville Public Library. 

 

There are probably close to 100 burials here, with many not marked.
