Price Cemetery Restoration!

On Saturday morning, June 15, nine MCPCC members met at Price Cemetery to tear out an old fence. Cows are in the pasture nearby and had trampled a section of the fence; electric fence was keeping them at bay for the moment! We beat the rain and tore out two sides of the fence. Local contractors replaced the two sides of the fence, and signage was put up.

New signage was just added at Timber Ridge and Pendroy Cemeteries!

Attica Cemetery is finished! The gate was put in on Labor Day 2013, and the finishing touches were made. This small cemetery on the west side of Attica tells a tale of the Mormon trek westward.

Ron and Sue Yowell from Sylva, NC, were able to trace Ron's gr-gr-grandfather, William Yowell, as being buried at Mikesell (aka Yowell) Cemetery. William was a War of 1812 veteran. The MCPCC were pleased to meet the Yowells, help them locate the cemetery, and present them with a plaque and flag to put on their gr-gr-grandfather's grave!

Watkins Cemetery Restored

Brendan Finan, a Knoxville, IA, Boy Scout, recently restored Watkins Cemetery (4 miles NW of Knoxville) as part of his Eagle Scout work. He cleaned brush, had the stones repaired, and put signage in place.  An open house was held Oct. 20, 2013. Great job, Brendan!

Carlisle Arch Restored

In August 2014, the MCPCC replaced the original Carlisle Cemetery Arch. It had been found in a pile of weeds and was rusty and in need of a great deal of repair.

Walters Cemetery Fenced

Walters Cemetery, near Pershing, was fenced April 16, 2016.

New signs have just been added to Timber Ridge and Pendroy Cemeteries!
